It is the branch of engineering concerned with the design and construction of all types of public works.
Civil Engineering is considered to be the oldest engineering field. Civil Engineering includes the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the infrastructure that surrounds us and is the underpinning of our society. The infrastructure includes roads, airports, railroads, buildings, bridges, tunnels, water and wastewater treatment plants, sewers, drainage, flood control, water supply, landfills, and many other facilities. Most everything civil engineers do affects our daily live in many ways.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
1. Goals of the Department
The goals of the Civil Engineering Department are to:
- Provide an educational experience of highest quality to our undergraduate and graduate students through a program of study that accommodates the individual's interests and career goals
- Provide a solid foundation for those students who wish to pursue graduate studies
- Serve the engineering profession, industry, society and University with valuable leadership, participation, and knowledge.
- Provide graduates with the opportunity to join the family of Ishik University who are seeking for playing leading roles in the field of civil engineering in the region, the country and perhaps worldwide.
2. BSC Program Objective
Technical knowledge:
Provide students with a solid foundation of technical knowledge ranging from fundamental principles to state-of-the-art technologies and the skills and abilities they will need in engineering practice.
.
Professional Preparation.
Provide regular and special instruction on communication, leadership/management skills, principles of ethics, and other subjects that prepare the student for professional practice
3. Faculty Objectives include:
Promote and recognize outstanding teaching, including the development and improvement of teaching methodologies
Use traditional and novel teaching methodologies, laboratory exercises, and computer tools to provide the best possible opportunities for students to learn
Allow students the flexibility to pursue their studies over a spectrum of directions, ranging from practice orientation to theoretical research.
Attract outstanding students interested in the field of civil engineering.
Employ support personnel to provide assistance in maintaining high quality instructional laboratories and computing facilities as well as to perform administrative tasks.
Maintain and upgrade classroom and laboratory facilities and develop new facilities in support of program modernization
